The warnings written by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ weren't just for the early church; they were written for us, living in these very days. Jude 1:17-19 (NKJV) reminds us of what to expect as the age draws to a close:
17 - "But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:
18 - how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts.
19 - These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit."
We are living in troubling times.
Everywhere we look, the landscape reflects the warnings of Scripture. The political realm has put a spotlight on fallen men and women who crave power above all else, often prioritizing influence over integrity. We see an economic divide where the rich seem to be getting richer while the poor struggle, and the gap between them only widens.
So many people are living as if there is no God—without fear, without reverence, and without hope. Standards of morality that were once considered the bedrock of society are quickly disintegrating, replaced by the whims and desires of a culture that has turned its back on Truth.
But God has warned us that there would be some dark days.
We should not be surprised when we see these things. The apostles told us it would happen, and the presence of these "mockers" is, in itself, a sign that the return of our King is drawing near. The enemy loves to sow division and confusion, hoping to drive a wedge between the people of God and the heart of the Father.
However, we must continue to trust the Lord. Even in times like these, He is still faithful.
While the world chases after "ungodly lusts" and temporary power, we are called to hold fast to the One who possesses all power and all grace. We are not defined by the state of our culture, but by the state of our relationship with Christ.
When the world grows cold, let your heart grow warmer toward the Lord. When division and strife fill the headlines, let your life be a testament to the unity and peace that only the Holy Spirit can provide. We may be living in the last times, but we are also living in the Lord’s time. Stay rooted, stay prayerful, and keep your eyes on the One who is in control of every day.
