What God Really Wants

Psalms 51: 16 - 17

“For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.

17 

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise.”

Have you ever given someone a gift that they didn’t really want? Maybe they already had one, or they just preferred the cash. You may think, “Well, they should be grateful to receive anything.” 

God desires a certain type of gift. The people in the psalmist’s day had decided what type of gifts they wanted to give God. But God has requirements … “a broken and a contrite heart…”
