Things Too Wonderful For Me…

Job 42: 1 - 3

Then Job replied to the Lord:

“I know that you can do all things;
    no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’
    Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
    things too wonderful for me to know.

Job has been thrown into a life crisis!  He lost his wealth, portions of his family and his health.  And Job doesn’t know why.  After all, he’s a righteous man.  He has done all the sacrifices and kept Jehovah first in all of his actions.  And yet, life has still failed him.

Job wants to talk to God about this face to face.  He thinks that God has made some mistake, has possibly gotten the wrong person.  He believes if he can just talk to God all of this will be straightened out.

Then God shows up in a whirlwind.  In “drop mic” fashion He asks Job a series of questions about creation… “Were you there..?”  Job breaks down before the Mighty God, realizing now how foolish it was to think that God could make a mistake.  He says, “Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.”

Have you ever talked about things you didn’t understand?  No matter the circumstances let’s believe and trust God.  After all, He was there!
