The Test

John 6: 4 - 6

4 Now the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near. 5 Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” 6 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.

The miracle the fish and the loaves is probably on the list of “top 10 miracles of Jesus”, at least as recorded in the Bible. It’s a popular sermon topic and has been studied intensely by many theologians.  

However, I find the verse leading up to it even more profound, “Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat? But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.”

The thought I leave with you today is… “Are you ready for your test?”
