1 Corinthians 15: 33 - 34
33 Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” 34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.
Much is going on at this time in the church at Corinth. I believe their biggest issue was taking salvation for granted, something we all do from time to time. God has given us the wonderful gift of grace, and I believe we should show our appreciation by living righteously. After all, “a tree is known by the fruit it bears.”
Then Paul warns the Corinthians to choose friends carefully. The people we are with, as well a what we watch or listen to, affects our habits. Paul encourages all of us to “awaken to righteousness and not sin”. It’s easy to find ourselves in a state of slumber instead of living vibrantly for Christ.
Paul adds this sobering thought, “For some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. ”As we walk through this week let us be fully aware of who we are in Christ, and show the world the power of the Holy Spirit Who dwells in us.
