That You May Believe

John 11: 14 -15

14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead. 15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him.”

The miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead after 4 days was monumental, but this verse is especially striking to me.  Jesus could have gone back immediately after hearing that Lazarus was sick, preventing him from dying.  Instead Jesus waits.  He tells His disciples “I am glad for your sakes that I was not there that you may believe.” 

What things does the Lord allow us to go through that we may believe?
