Get Rid of It

Colossians 3: 8 - 10

“But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,”

To be in Christ Jesus means that there has been a significant change in our lives.  Here in these scriptures we see that the change is progressive, but we still play an active role in it.  This verse says to “put off” , which denotes the picture of someone shoveling up and tossing away debris.  

My favorite part is the last verse, “put on the new man…”. Let’s toss away the old man and replace it with the newness of Jesus!
