Do Not Rejoice When Your Enemy Falls

Proverbs 24:17 - 18

Do not rejoice when your enemy falls,

And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles;

18 

Lest the Lord see it, and [a]it displease Him,

And He turn away His wrath from him.

 

This scripture will change your life! Our natural inclination is to be happy and rejoice when our enemy falls.  When an enemy gets sick or something bad happens to them, more often than not, we are glad. I have even heard people say, “They deserved it” or “They had it coming to them.” 

This should not be the attitude of the saints of God! Instead we should sympathize and pray for them.  We can never forget that, if it wasn’t for God’s grace, we could be in the same situation.

Jesus says to love our enemies and to pray for those who spitefully use us.

Let us pray that God would give us hearts to love our enemies.
